Our Role in 2021
The Friends of Chiswick Health Centre is dedicated both to representing patients and supporting the doctors and staff of all practices in the Centre.
We are now recognised as a Patients’ Participation Group and we Chair the Locality Patients’ Participation Group for Chiswick. We also have a seat at the table on other Health & Social Care groups, committees and Boards, including the Public & Patient Engagement Committee, the CCG’s Adhoc Winter Meeting Group and the Hounslow CCG Primary Care Commissioning (Public) Committee.
With increasing demands on healthcare and ever-tighter budgets, the NHS in Hounslow launched a 5-year ‘Sustainable Transformation Plan’ to ease pressure on hospitals by providing more care locally, and we were recently instrumental in the adoption and selection of ‘Link Workers’ throughout Hounslow (including for our own health centre) to provide ‘social prescribing’.
With plans for the demolition and rebuilding of our health centre now approved, there may well be an expanded role for us to play in assisting our doctors, staff and patients to ‘decant’ (move) to our temporary new site while construction takes place – and, of course, to help with the move back again when our new home is complete. (We have also offered to help with the design and/or creation of a ‘healing garden’ for the central courtyard the new centre will have.)
Our mission for 2021 must, therefore, be to remain a ‘friend’ and continue to represent the interests of doctors, staff and patients in Chiswick to ensure the highest levels of care continue to be made available locally.
